Look Into My EyEs

Schadenfreude is the art of taking pleasure in another person's pain. We all do it. Today was the ultimate test of trying to hold together my "schadenfreude-ness."
Has this every happened to you? You know what I'm talking about... you haven't gotten enough sleep the night before a big meeting in a small room where everyone's moves are seen. You think "I'll just close my eyes for two seconds (let's call it a prolonged blink), then open them right back up again." Problem is, time in YOUR world is not the time that everyone else is going by and you've magically dosed off. OR, you try scribbling on your notepad to keep yourself busy, and before you know it, a straight line has shot off of the page and you've been caught "bobbling your head." It's miserable. But when you are WATCHING it happen, it's like a trainwreck.
And what a show it was this morning! The unwilling participant in my spying was nodding-off pretty badly. I couldn't stop watching, but I also couldn't stop laughing (uncontrolable giggles, I tell ya). He was trying to hold his sh%t together, but couldn't keep his eyes open to save his life. He tried writing, but that plan was thwarted after the pen abandoned the weight of his body resting on it, nearly falling forward and cracking his head on the table. After the meeting I got a glimpse at his page and asked what he was taking notes on. He was caught. He lowered his head and walked out the door. No doubt to head back to his office for a little nappy-nap. Am I evil or just human?

Who cut that DaVinci trailer? Geez! How many times can he repeat the same trick...?

Has anyone here read ALL of Dan Brown's "novels"? I discovered a code within his books that a sixth grader could uncover. They're all the same book! He finds great little theories but uses the same plot to present his theory in every book.

Angels and Demons uses the exact same henchman. Personality is identical to a "T". He switches him from an Albino to a "Black" Assasin. His love interest also is the daughter of the murdered subject that spawns the conspiracy, etc. There's a police officer [ with a different name, of course ] that is essentially the same in all of his books.

IMO, he wrote one book and when it didn't take off the way he wanted it to he decided to write it again [ with a different conspiracy ] and again and again - until finally people read one. I feel like Will Ferrel in Zoolander when he exclaims -"Is everyone taking CrAzY PiLls? Can't they see they're the same look[book]?!?!?!"

I'm curious to see if he can break his protocol and design a new writing system with his next "novel"...

Any human weakness is funny. Sleepiness is just one of mankind's fralities that I fine amusing. Haven't you ever enjoyed watching someone do the "pee-pee" dance or walk into a lamppost while looking over their shoulder? But the best has got to be good old uncontrolable farting. Right?

Uncontrollable farts make me uncomfortable, but I GUESS I can see the humor in it for others.

Dan, you are freaking my readers out. Angels and Demons DID come first, and it is 10 times better than DaVinci. Your bitch ass will STILL be in line with us come May to see the movie. Admit it. We own you.

I've read all his books, my little suckling. Read my post again, I never mention the order they're in. That's practicaly my point, they're nearly interchangeable in plot, characters/relationship and story. He's a one trick pony.

You can stand in line for Tom Hanks and the tweed jacket Dan Brown finds so clever and charming. I'll wait a few days when the fever dies down.

Dude, the Da Vinci trailer gave me a grand mal seizure, and now I'm bleeding from my ear. Is that bad?

Oh, and Dan, I hate to say this, but you have a point. Of course, the predictability of character and plot devices does not hamper my enthusiasm for the books, since I love the geek shite even more. Word to your ambigram!

I agree. As you read his books you can tell he takes an almost scientific approach to his storytelling. Every chapter ends the same. It's actually very well done but you always get the sense he doesn't give his reader much credit.
Nevertheless, I'm eager to see the movie since all his books have good pacing and a cinematic quality to them.
